Custom Scale Converter — Any Dimension to Any Scale
Convert real-world dimensions to any model scale with tolerance and reference comparisons.
How We Calculate This
Conversion Formula
- Scaled dimension = Real dimension (in mm) / Scale factor
- With shrinkage = Scaled dimension x (1 + Shrinkage%/100)
- All inputs are converted to mm internally before scaling
Frequently Asked Questions
Common scales: 1:72 for aircraft, 1:35 for armour, 1:24 for cars, 1:76 (OO) or 1:87 (HO) for railways. Wargaming uses 1:56 (28mm). Choose based on your subject, shelf space and budget.
Resin castings shrink 1-3%, 3D printed parts shrink 0.5-2% depending on material. Enter the shrinkage percentage in Advanced Options to compensate by scaling up slightly.
For general modelling, ±0.25mm is fine for most parts. For precision fits (engine parts, hatches), aim for ±0.1mm. For scratch building, measure twice and cut once.
