RC Model Electronics and Performance
Radio-controlled models rely on careful matching of electrical and mechanical components. The battery, motor, ESC (electronic speed controller), and propeller or gear train must all work together within safe limits for reliable performance and reasonable run times.
LiPo batteries are rated by cell count (S), capacity (mAh) and discharge rate (C). A 3S 2200mAh 30C pack delivers 11.1V nominal and can safely discharge at 66A (2.2 x 30). Matching this to a motor with the right KV rating determines your RPM, and from there the propeller or gearing converts that into thrust or speed.
For RC aircraft, wing loading is a key performance metric. Lower wing loading (under 50 g/dm²) gives slower, more stable flight ideal for trainers, while higher loading (80+ g/dm²) suits faster sport and scale models. Our calculators help you match all these parameters for safe, enjoyable flying or driving.
