Paint Rack Calculator
Calculate rack dimensions and slot count based on your paint pot collection and preferred brands.
How We Calculate This
Calculations
Slot width = Pot diameter + Spacing gap
Rack width = Slots per row × Slot width + End spacing
Tiered depth = Rows × (Pot diameter + Padding)
Tiered height = Pot height + (Rows − 1) × Tier rise (15mm per step)
The calculator uses each pot's widest dimension: 34mm for hexagonal Citadel/Tamiya pots and 26mm for 17ml dropper bottles (Vallejo, Army Painter, Scale75, AK). These match the hole sizes used by commercial racks. Adjust spacing in Advanced Options for tighter or looser fits.
Frequently Asked Questions
Modern hexagonal Citadel pots measure about 34mm across their widest (corner-to-corner) and 43mm tall. The hex shape needs a wider slot than a round dropper, so commercial Citadel racks (GameCraft, RaffosLAB and others) are cut for a 34mm hole. A 34-35mm hole or slot clears the pot comfortably.
Vallejo, Army Painter, Scale75 and AK 17ml dropper bottles are all the same family: about 26mm diameter and 78mm tall with the cap. Dedicated dropper racks use a 26mm hole. They are narrower but much taller than Citadel pots, so a rack for droppers needs taller tiers or deeper wall-mounted slots.
Tiered racks sit on your desk and angle paint pots back so you can see labels. They use more desk depth but are portable. Wall-mounted racks save desk space but need wall fixings. Choose based on your available space.
